Sacramento State Moves to No. 2 After Third Straight Top 25 Victory

Sacramento State used a complete game on all three phases to control their Big Sky contest at then-No. 6 Weber State. Never trailing in the contest, the Hornets took a 33-23 lead with 1:56 left to play in the game thanks to a 53-yard field goal from Kyle Sentkowski and held on for a 33-30 win. Sacramento State is now 9-0 on the season, their first nine-game winning streak in program history. The win was their third straight over a Top 25 opponent and moves the Hornets to No. 2 in this week’s AFCA FCS Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The loss dropped Weber State to No. 10.
With two weeks left in the regular season, there are some interesting Top 25 matchups with conference title implications coming this Saturday. The Southern Conference will see the top four teams face each other as No. 9 Samford, who is in first place with a 6-0 conference mark, travels to No. 12 Chattanooga while No. 11 Mercer plays host to No. 16t Furman. Chattanooga, Mercer, and Furman are all in a three-way tie for second with identical 5-1 marks. In Colonial Athletic Association action, No. 13 Richmond, who is in a three-way tie for first place, will travel to No. 15 Delaware, who sits in a tie for third place.
