The purpose of the AFCA has always been to maintain the highest possible standards in the game of football and in the football coaching profession. In 1996, the Board of Trustees, with the support from the NCAA, sought to further serve that purpose by establishing the Professional Development Series (PDS) to assist football coaches in their professional growth. The PDS provides AFCA members an opportunity to participate in ongoing lectures that follow a designed curriculum for career football coaches.
Participants will be provided with a way to track their attendance and will be presented with an AFCA/NCAA Professional Development Series Certificate of Completion following the convention. PDS credit can be used as professional development hours towards salary points and recertification. In addition to earning PDS credit participants will also be eligible to receive college credit for completing the Professional Development Series.
The American Football Coaches Association has provided a tutorial to apply for PDS certification. Please check out dev.afca.com/pds for step by step instructions on how to submit your hours for verification.
