[FCS Poll] Nicholls Dominates Top 25 Matchup To Move Up In AFCA FCS Coaches Poll

Nicholls snapped an 11-game losing streak to then-No. 11 Sam Houston State by handing the Bearkats a 27-7 loss. The victory moved the Colonels up to No. 15 and dropped Sam Houston State to No. 19 in the fourth week of the AFCA FCS Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.
Following their third straight win to start 2018, North Dakota State remains No. 1, receiving all 26 first-place votes. James Madison comes in at No. 2 after a 51-0 shutout of William & Mary. The Dukes are followed by South Dakota State, Kennesaw State and Eastern Washington, who round out the Top 5.

Illinois State saw the biggest gain in the poll, jumping from No. 15 to No. 10 following a 35-19 victory over Colorado State. Both Chattanooga and Princeton have battled their way into the Top 25 for the first time this season, coming in at No. 24 and No. 25, respectively.

Week 5 will feature a trio of Top 25 matchups. The first is a Top 3 matchup in the Missouri Valley Football Conference as No. 3 South Dakota State travels to No. 1 North Dakota State. In the second matchup, No. 19 Sam Houston State will try to end their two-game skid as they travel to No. 12 Central Arkansas. The third Top 25 battle has No. 14 Villanova traveling to No. 17 Stony Brook.
