[D2 Poll] Ferris State Ends Regular Season at No. 1
November 15, 2021
Ferris State (Mich.), the only undefeated team left in Division II, ends the regular season at No. 1 in the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The Bulldogs beat Wayne State (Mich.), 35-13, to move to 10-0 and claim the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title. They also claimed one of four No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Division II playoffs and will face the winner of Lindenwood (Mo.) versus No. 4 Grand Valley State (Mich.).

The rest of the top-five is different after Valdosta State (Ga.) lost to West Florida, 61-42. The Argonauts are now No. 2 while the Blazers dropped to No. 5. West Florida and Valdosta State shared the Gulf South Conference title, but VSU got the nod as the No. 1 seed in the playoffs and has a bye while UWF will host South Atlantic Conference champion Newberry (S.C.) in the first round. Northwest Missouri State moves to No. 3 and rounds out the top-five.
The other two No. 1 seeds are No. 9 Colorado School of Mines and No. 12 Kutztown (Pa.). The Orediggers, who won a share of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, will face the winner of No. 25 Augustana (S.D.) and Bemidji State (Minn.) while the Golden Bears, champions of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, will face the winner of No. 18 New Haven (Conn.) and No. 20 Bentley (Mass.).
