[D2 Poll] West Georgia Jumps into the AFCA D2 Coaches’ Top 10

West Georgia set a record for total offense (653 yards) in a single game and the defense pitched their second shutout of the season to give the Wolves a 56-0 blowout win over Shorter (Ga.). The win, combined with a couple of Top 10 upsets, vaulted West Georgia five spots to No. 9 in the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The Wolves, who sit atop the Gulf South Conference standings, will host No. 15 West Alabama in the only Top 25 matchup during week 5 of the 2021 season.

The Top 5 remained the same this week with West Florida at No. 1, Northwest Missouri State at No. 2, Ferris State (Mich.) at No. 3, Valdosta St. (Ga.) at No. 4 and Colorado School of Mines at No. 5.
There are four newcomers in the poll this week, with the highest ranked being Truman State (Mo.), who enters at No. 18 thanks to its 38-35 upset victory over then-No. 12 Tiffin (Ohio). The Bulldogs were last ranked on November 18, 2019. Harding (Ark.) re-enters the poll at No. 23 while Bentley (Mass.) and California (Pa.) make their first appearances at No. 24 and No. 25t, respectively.
