North Dakota State Defeats Butler, Remains No. 1 In AFCA FCS Coaches’ Top 25 Poll

North Dakota State started the 2019 season the same way it ended the 2018 season, with a win. The Bison defeated Butler by a score of 57-10 to remain perfect in its last 18 games and stay No. 1 in the AFCA FCS Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. North Dakota State received 25 of the 26 first-place votes.

James Madison, who lost to West Virginia, 20-13, received the only other first-place vote and remains at No. 2 this week. The Dukes are followed by South Dakota State, UC Davis and Eastern Washington, who round out the top 5.
After an impressive performance against Iowa State, Northern Iowa was this week’s biggest jump, improving eight spots and checking in at No. 12. Montana beat South Dakota, 31-17, and jumps into the top 25 at No. 23 this week. Week 2 will feature a lone top 25 matchup as No. 19 Montana State plays host to No. 13 Southeast Missouri State in Bozeman, Montana.
