[D3 Poll] St. John’s Grabs Big Win To Move Into The Top 5

St. John’s (Minn.) junior quarterback Jackson Erdmann set a school record with 470 passing yards to help lead the Johnnies to a 40-20 victory over then-No. 3 St. Thomas (Minn.). The loss snapped a 31-game conference opponent win streak by the Tommies and vaulted St. John’s to No. 5 in this week’s AFCA Division III Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. St. Thomas falls seven places to No. 10.

Mount Union (Ohio) remains at No. 1 for the fifth week in a row receiving 41 first-place votes, while Mary Hardin-Baylor (Tex.) checks in at No. 2 receiving 10 first-place votes. Brockport (N.Y.) and Wisconsin-Whitewater move up one spot apiece to round out the Top 5.

There wasn’t much movement in the poll this week with Wisconsin-Oshkosh being the biggest gainer, jumping three spots to No. 18. Then-No. 15 Wheaton (Ill.) lost to Washington (Mo.), 17-10, and fell out of the Top 25, making room for Salisbury (Md.). The Sea Gulls are 6-0 on the season after beating Montclair State (N.J.), 17-15.
