October 10, 2022
Categories: Coaches Poll, Division III,
In a tightly contested game, Wisconsin-River Falls took the lead against conference rival Wisconsin-Oshkosh on the opening drive of the fourth quarter with a 23-yard field goal, making the score 27-24. Then Falcons’ defensive back Michael Brown recorded two interceptions on Oshkosh’s next two drives to clinch the win. Wisconsin-River Falls moves up to No. 15 in this week’s AFCA Division III Coaches’ Top 25 Poll while Wisconsin-Oshkosh drops to No. 21. The Titans don’t have long to lick their wounds as they travel to No. 3 Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday.
There was no change with the top eight teams as North Central (Ill.) continues at No. 1 after a 73-0 blowout win over Carroll (Wis.). Mount Union (Ohio), Wisconsin-Whitewater, Mary Hardin-Baylor (Tex.) and Linfield (Ore.) round out the top five.
Two new teams entered the Top 25 this week after long layoffs. Washington (Mo.) comes in at No. 24. The Bears were last ranked on September 25, 2001, while Huntingdon (Ala.), who is No. 25, was last ranked on November 13, 2017.
